Hamas stated on Thursday that they are ready to commence discussions regarding the second phase of a fragile ceasefire in the Gaza Strip following the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prisons overnight. This release was in exchange for the bodies of four Israeli hostages.

According to Hamas, the only means of securing the release of the remaining hostages in Gaza would be through negotiations and a commitment to upholding the ceasefire.
