Following his third consecutive night in detention, Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu was scheduled to face prosecutors on Saturday, shortly after hundreds of thousands took to the streets throughout Turkey in a significant display of dissent. This marked the third consecutive night that demonstrators had converged, standing up against the arrest of Imamoglu – who is considered the main political adversary of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
