At a UN conference co-hosted by France and Saudi Arabia on Monday, France asserted that the two-state resolution remains the only solution for both Israelis and Palestinians. Israel chose to boycott the event, while the US labeled it a mere “gesture.” Just days before, President Macron announced intentions to acknowledge Palestinian statehood by September, actions which provoked strong opposition from both Israel and Washington.
