The main event celebrating International Women’s Day is taking place today in countries all around the world. However, commemorating the day stands as a challenge in Iran, owing to the government’s constant scrutiny and suppression of overt expressions of femininism. The Woman Life Freedom movements, ignited after the death in police custody of 22-year-old Maahsa Amini in September 2022, have particularly been under the radar.

Today, we’ll be joined by Chowra Makaremi, an anthropologist and a researcher at the National Centre for Scientific Research in Paris, for an insightful discussion on this issue.
