According to reports, Israel targeted Syria with its heaviest bombardment of the year between Friday night and Saturday morning. This follows the country’s leaders denouncing an earlier airstrike near the presidential palace as a “dangerous escalation”. The strikes were carried out after Druze clerics and armed factions reaffirmed their allegiance to Damascus.
