Lesotho concerned about US-Africa trade agreement under Trump’s administration

Businesses within the Kingdom of Lesotho are expressing concern regarding the status of the African Growth and Opportunity Act, a trade agreement set to be renewed this year. AGOA allows specific products, including clothing, to enter the United States duty-free from over thirty sub-Saharan African nations. However, under the current administration of President Donald Trump, which has been cutting off financial aid, attempting to impose tariffs, and promoting an ‘America First’ policy, the partner countries have become disheartened.
