In this report, we investigate the reasons behind France’s decision to dispose of its aged supply of donor sperm, a move that comes despite the growing demand and extended waiting times for infertility treatments, including in vitro fertilization. The current bioethics legislation in France has rendered anonymous sperm donations obsolete. We examine the motives for this ban and explore the factors contributing to the increasing necessity for these donations.
