Netanyahu Appoints Former Navy Commander as New Security Chief, Challenging Court Order

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel has selected Eli Sharvit, a retired navy commander, to be the country’s new chief of security, according to his office’s announcement on Monday. This change comes as a replacement for Ronen Bar, who was dismissed by the prime minister due to “ongoing lack of trust” in the wake of the October 7 Hamas attacks.
