Peru is home to more than 2,000 glaciers. However, like in other parts of the world, they are rapidly melting due to climate change. Over the past 50 years, the country’s glaciers have lost more than half of their surface area, resulting in devastating consequences for many Andean residents. The water they consume daily is contaminated with toxic metals. FRANCE 24’s Agathe Fourcade and Martin Chabal report, with Wassim Cornet.
