A large-scale demonstration led by Turkey’s main opposition party, the Republican People’s Party (CHP), began in Istanbul on Saturday. Even though student groups have kept the protests going with smaller gatherings since the arrest of Istanbul mayor Ekrem Imamoglu on March 19, this marks the first significant protest since Tuesday.
