Public prosecutors are advocating for a possible jail term of up to four months for the individuals accused of racist abuse against Aya Nakamura.

On Wednesday, France began the trial of thirteen individuals associated with the far-right group Les Natives for allegedly hurling a racially insulting remark at Franco-Malian singer Aya Nakamura. The defendants are accused of displaying a banner that said, “No way, Aya, this is Paris, not the Bamako market,” in March 2024. This incident occurred following news that Nakamura might perform at the Paris Olympics.
