Monday marks the opening of the most significant child sexual abuse case ever held in France in Vannes. In this trial, Joël Le Scouarnec, a 74-year-old retired surgeon, is accused of sexually abusing or raping 299 patients, mostly children under his care, across multiple hospitals over a period of more than 30 years.
