Sharks in the Saya de Malha Bank Are on the Brink of Extermination Due to Fin Hunting

In November 2022, a scientific expedition to Saya de Malha Bank uncovered a disturbing finding – sharks that used to inhabit the seagrass meadows in the area are vanishing. The researchers attribute this decline to Asian fishing boats that visit these remote and abundant waters to catch tuna. These boats are also targeting and capturing sharks in large quantities.
