South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol Ousted Due to Brief Martial Law

The President of South Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol, has been dismissed from his position as the Constitutional Court unanimously supported his impeachment. Yoon’s suspension in December was due to his unsuccessful endeavor to establish martial law. The decision made by the court on Friday caused a mix of emotions among his supporters and detractors who gathered in Seoul to witness the live judgment. A fresh presidential election needs to be conducted by June 3 to appoint a new leader. Camille Knight provides more details.
