Syria grapples with the severity of their wildfires, battling the blaze for the fourth straight day.

Wildfires ravaging the Latakia province in Syria have scorched 100 square kilometers (40 square miles) of forestland, according to local officials. The devastating fires have prompted Jordanian firefighters to cross the border to lend support in the ongoing battle against the flames, now entering its fourth day. Firefighting efforts are made more challenging by extreme heat, strong winds, the difficult terrain, and the presence of unexploded ordnance, all of which arise from the protracted Syrian conflict and the country’s economic difficulties.
