French prosecutors initiated an investigation on Friday to look into allegations of involuntary manslaughter and ignoring individuals in danger against TotalEnergies, in relation to a 2021 attack by terrorist factions near a significant gas field in Mozambique. An independent investigator has reported that the assault resulted in the death or disappearance of 1,402 individuals, including 55 subcontractors working for Total.
