Twenty-four hours in Ukraine’s Kharkiv, where life goes on despite the war


Kharkiv, eastern Ukraine’s largest city, is resolutely entering its fourth year of war, with residents stoically coping with emergency laws, night curfews and incessant air alerts. Underground schools have been built, and the city still offers a few leisure activities to ward off fear and help overcome personal tragedies.
