“Undisired Connections”: Chronicles the Lives of Russian Journalists Before Departure

A Russian-American filmmaker named Julia Loktev has discussed with FRANCE 24 the portrayal of the last days of opposition to the Russian government in her new film before the invasion of Ukraine. Born in what was formerly known as Leningrad, Loktev grew up in the United States. In her film titled “My Undesirable Friends: Part I — Last Air in Moscow,” she focuses on the employees of TV Rain, a television channel dedicated to reporting the truth about the Russian regime. Since the documentary’s production, TV Rain has been compelled to shut down its operations in Russia and relocate to Amsterdam, from which it now broadcasts. Loktev shared her insights on this topic in Perspective.
