WHO Representative Calls for Urgent Medical Attention for Myanmar Earthquake Victims

The recent 7.7-magnitude earthquake in Myanmar has resulted in a significant increase in the death toll to over 1,000. This occurred after rescue teams managed to recover more bodies from the collapsed buildings caused by the quake that hit close to Myanmar’s second-biggest city. Tarik Jasarevic, a spokesperson for the World Health Organization, stated that Myanmar’s healthcare system had already been weakened due to its long history of conflict, and therefore may not have the adequate resources to effectively handle this devastating disaster.
