Boassen has made it his mission to bring Greenland and the United States closer together, despite not agreeing with Trump’s desire to claim the island for the United States. He is advocating for a tight security alliance between an independent Greenland and Washington, making him one of the most visible Greenlanders advocating for a break from Denmark. Many Greenlanders do not want to become part of the United States, and some dismiss Boassen’s efforts. Still, Boassen believes he is part of something bigger and wants Greenland to take advantage of Trump’s attention.
