The conflict between India and Pakistan intensified on Saturday, with both countries targeting military sites and air bases and accusing each other of launching the first attacks. According to Pakistan, India targeted at least three of its air bases with surface-to-air missiles early on Saturday, including a key installation near Islamabad. In response, Pakistan used short-range surface-to-surface missiles against several locations in India, including air bases and a missile storage facility. India, however, claimed that it had struck several Pakistani military targets in response to a series of Pakistani attacks using drones and long-range weapons. The confrontation has escalated since India conducted airstrikes in Pakistan on Wednesday in response to a suicide attack last month in India-controlled Kashmir. Diplomatic efforts to defuse the crisis have been made by several countries, but so far, they have been unsuccessful.
