Seismic Event: Venezuela Hit by Magnitude 6.3 Earthquake

A strong 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck in Venezuela on Wednesday, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The earthquake occurred at 11:51 p.m. Venezuela time, approximately 17 miles northeast of Mene Grande, Venezuela.
U.S.G.S. data initially reported the magnitude as 6.4.
As seismologists review available data, the earthquake’s reported magnitude might be revised. Further information collected may also prompt U.S.G.S. to update the shake-severity map.
