Despite sustaining heavy casualties in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, North Korea has reportedly sent additional troops to support Russia, as its soldiers have returned to frontline combat, according to South Korea’s spy agency, which stated this on Thursday.
<p class="css-at9mc1 evys1bk0">The National Intelligence Service, South Korea's primary intelligence agency, is currently attempting to determine the extent of this new deployment. This disclosure follows a report from JoongAng, a South Korean newspaper, which cited unnamed sources indicating that North Korea has dispatched up to 3,000 more troops since January, using ships and military cargo planes.</p>
<p class="css-at9mc1 evys1bk0">Last year, North Korea dispatched an estimated 11,000 troops to Russia and provided substantial amounts of artillery shells, missiles, and other conventional weapons. These troops were stationed in the Kursk region, where they fought alongside Russian forces in an effort to reclaim territory lost to Ukraine.</p>
