Britain announced on Tuesday a significant increase in military spending, aiming to send a strong message to President Trump regarding burden sharing. Prior to Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s meeting with Trump at the White House on Thursday, Starmer stated that Britain will increase its military spending to 2.5 percent of gross domestic value by 2027 and to 3 percent by the end of the next government’s term. The Labour government plans to finance this increased expenditure by scaling back spending on development.
