Even the organizers of a prominent dogsled race indicated a cool response to the visit, stating that although the event is open to the public, they did not invite the visitors. However, Denmark has consistently refused to part with Greenland. Recent changes include Denmark granting Greenland self-rule in 2009 and a growing independence movement.
