U.S.-Canada Ties Plummet Due to Trade Disputes and Allegations of British Columbia Takeover Attempts

When Prime Minister Justin Trudeau steps down in a few days, his successor will face the worst relations between the U.S. and Canada since the trade war of the Great Depression. Relations may even be nearing a nadir not seen since the 19th century. If Mr. Trump follows through on his tariffs next Tuesday, Mr. Trudeau has made clear that Canada will retaliate with its own taxes. Ian Austen writes in our Canada Letter about this and other stories from Canada.
