Democrats are calling for the resignation of US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth after plans for airstrikes on Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi were leaked in a group chat on the messaging app Signal. The conversation included Vice President JD Vance, Mr Hegseth, and others, and was mistakenly shared with American journalist Jeffrey Goldberg. National security adviser Mike Waltz took “full responsibility” for adding Mr Goldberg to the chat.
