Ukraine has conducted what appears to be its most significant drone assault on Russia in the past three years, resulting in one fatality in the Moscow region. Moreover, nine individuals were injured during the strike, which occurred on the same day peace negotiations were scheduled to commence in Saudi Arabia between Kyiv and Washington.
Out of the total nine injured, eight, including a child, were from the Moscow region, as reported by Governor Andrei Vorobyov.

Out of the 337 drones involved in the attack, most were reportedly intercepted over the disputed Kursk region, close to the Ukrainian border. The assault targeted a total of 10 regions, with an additional 91 drones being shot down over the Moscow region, where Moscow itself suffered over 70 drone strikes, according to Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
He also contended that the nation’s air defences effectively countered the attack on Tuesday. The assault inflicted damages on seven apartment buildings and led to several cars burning in a parking lot, as per Russian state news agencies RIA Novosti and Tass.
Flight operations were restricted at and out of six airports, and train services were temporarily halted, as confirmed by local authorities.
The peace talks are set to begin. Tuesday saw a Ukrainian delegation scheduled to meet with the United States’ chief diplomat in the Middle East to discuss the ceasation of the long-standing conflict with Russia.
During his visit to the country, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy engaged in talks with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman before departing, leaving behind a team to negotiate with Marco Rubio and U.S. officials.
This will constitute the first formal discussions between the countries following an unfortunate meeting at the White House where Mr. Zelenskyy faced condemnation in front of international media from then-President Donald Trump and vice-president JD Vance.
Mr. Zelenskyy had journeyed to Washington to sign an agreement on critical minerals.
