Initially, Trump had announced a 50% tariff on Canadian steel and aluminum on Tuesday, but later halted the plan.
However, 25% tariffs on all steel and aluminum imports to the US are now in effect, impacting UK products worth hundreds of millions of pounds.

Navarro stated: “The policy is ‘no exemptions, no exclusions,’ and that stance will change only if the president’s policy changes.
“However, the ‘no exemptions, no exclusions’ policy exists for a reason because when we, as a country, extended such gestures to our allies, they took advantage of us; that won’t happen again.”
