A senior Israeli figure has expressed skepticism about the longevity of any Gaza ceasefire. Speaking anonymously in Washington, the figure suggested a 60-day ceasefire could occur within “a week, two weeks” but questioned the possibility of such a truce lasting beyond that period, suggesting that while negotiations on a permanent settlement will commence, it is uncertain Hamas will be willing to agree.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is concluding a four-day visit to Washington, and there was optimism that a ceasefire could have been declared during this trip.
