According to Harriet Harman, Sir Keir Starmer could potentially permit Donald Trump to utilize British bases for launching strikes on Iran.
During an interview with Beth Rigby on the Electoral Dysfunction podcast, Baroness Harman suggested this, despite the Prime Minister’s generation being heavily influenced by their opposition to the Iraq War.

Solicitor General at the time when Sir Tony Blair made the decision to join the United States in Iraq in 2003, Baroness Harman indicated that these decisions will “be burning bright” in Sir Keir‘s mind.
“He’s part of the political generation of the Labour Party that grew up, which was shaped by its opposition to what Tony Blair was doing in relation to Iraq,” Baroness Harman said.
“So it would be a massive change for him.”
When inquired if the UK could provide permission for US aircraft to use British military bases on Cyprus and Diego Garcia but not escalate further, Baroness Harman replied simply “Exactly”.

Attorney General Richard Hermer has raised concerns over the lawfulness of Israel’s actions in Iran, which could limit the UK’s support for the US.
Baroness Harman argued that adherence to the “rules-based international order” is crucial for Sir Keir, and if it conflicts with legality, the government cannot proceed, as per the attorney general’s stance.
