Yazidi women continue to be enslaved in ISIS detention camps, as revealed in a recent Sky News documentary titled “10 Years of Darkness: ISIS & The Yazidis.” The documentary, presented by Sky News special correspondent Alex Crawford, provides an in-depth look at a community that has endured unimaginable violence.

The documentary illustrates the systematic massacres of the Yazidi people in Sinjar (2014) and the widespread abduction of women and children by ISIS fighters. It further explores the ongoing humanitarian crisis that persists with many Yazidi women still enslaved today.

The content includes original footage of rescue operations in detention camps and the emotional reunions of families, underlining the Yazidi community’s unwavering determination to find missing loved ones and their ongoing battle for justice.

The film also features the story of Kovan, a Yazdi girl who was kidnapped by ISIS at age 14, and Farida Khalaf, a Yazidi author and activist whose memoir, “The Girl Who Beat ISIS,” recounts her personal experiences. Khalaf has become an international advocate, meeting with world leaders and testifying on the issues of justice and human rights, and actively working to bring ISIS perpetrators to justice.

Other key contributors include Dr. Shiraz Maher, Director of the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation, and Dr. Jan Kizilhan, a German-Kurdish trauma expert who has treated Yasidi women and children who have suffered atrocities at the hands of ISIS.

The documentary will be available on Sky News platforms on 2 May.
