The number of fatalities resulting from a powerful earthquake in Myanmar has increased to 694, with 1,670 individuals injured, as reported by the nation’s military government.
Following the 7.7 magnitude quake, the head of the military government has instructed a timely rescue operation.
The earthquake occurred around 12.50pm local time (6.20am UK time) on Friday at a shallow depth of six miles.
The epicenter of the quake was approximately 10 miles from Mandalay, the second largest city.
Aftershocks were experienced, with one measuring a strong 6.4 magnitude just 12 minutes later.
Neighboring Thailand also felt the impact, with eight deaths, eight injuries, and 79 missing individuals.
