The Royal Navy's flagship HMS Prince of Wales is set to embark on an eight-month deployment aimed at asserting the UK's naval and air capabilities through a "powerful message."
Dubbed Operation Highmast, the deployment will involve joint exercises and diplomatic engagements with 40 countries across the Mediterranean, Middle East, East Asia, Japan, and Australia.
Estimated at £3bn, the aircraft carrier is scheduled to depart from Portsmouth on Tuesday, accompanied by Type 45 destroyer HMS Dauntless, to join a fleet of warships, supply ships, and aircraft along the coast of Cornwall.
As the largest class of ship in the Royal Navy, HMS Prince of Wales will lead Carrier Strike Group 25 (CSG25), featuring approximately 2,500 personnel from the Royal Navy, 592 from the Royal Air Force, and 900 from the Army.
