A British tourist has been severely injured following a gas explosion that destroyed a three-storey B&B in Rome.
Grant Paterson, a 54-year-old man hailing from East Kilbride in South Lanarkshire, reportedly sustained severe burns due to the explosion in the Monteverde part of the Italian capital.
Extracted by firefighters from the rubble, it is understood that he has endured third-degree burns covering approximately 75% of his body, according to Roma Today.
Paterson is currently undergoing treatment at Sant’Eugenio Hospital.
