Ukrainian President Putin has been ridiculed for wearing a suit to the White House and Donald Trump was offended when he didn’t, according to reports.

the historic meeting, Volodymyr Zelensky was advised by Trump’s team to ditch his usual combat clothes for a more formal outfit. However, he chose to wear all black instead, which irritated Mr Trump ahead of the meeting.

Zelensky responded to criticism about his attire during a press conference, stating that he would wear a costume when the war is finished. In Ukrainian, the word “kostium” (pronounced ‘costume’) means “suit”.

He has stated that he will continue to wear casual attire until the war has ended.

Why doesn’t Zelensky wear a suit?

Zelensky is often seen wearing olive green jumpers and combat boots as a symbol of solidarity with Ukraine’s armed forces and those on the frontline.
