An earthquake measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale struck North Hollywood district of Los Angeles at 22:23 local time on 2 March, just after the Oscars ceremony concluded. The epicenter was 15km below the surface. According to the United States Geological Survey, the effects of the tremor were felt in the San Fernando Valley and other parts of Los Angeles. However, there were no reports of significant damage or injuries. The Los Angeles Fire Department stated that they were “not entering earthquake mode.” The earthquake struck around 1.4 miles east-southeast of North Hollywood, 1.7 miles north of Universal City, 2.5 miles east-northeast of Studio City, and 3 miles west-southwest of Burbank.
