The bans cover a wide range of products, from children’s products to personal care items, food packaging, and clothing. If successful, this plan would increase public exposure to chemicals linked to serious health issues such as cancer and hormonal disruption. The plan also jeopardizes the effectiveness of Proposition 65 in California and could undermine federal prohibitions, including the early 2024 ban on asbestos. Currently, many states are actively restricting the use of toxic chemicals in various products, putting pressure on industries to stop using these substances.
