Millions of Australians can now request directions from Naarm (Melbourne) to Meanjin (Brisbane) on Apple Maps, with added dual placenames for many cities and towns across the country. Indigenous groups collaborated with Apple to include more than 250 dual placenames, and the app will display land borders and traditional owners of regions without marking land boundaries. The initiative aims to honor heritage, revitalize languages, and contribute to reconciliation. However, the success of the project will depend on meaningful engagement with traditional owners and adherence to cultural protocols.
