Art pieces in London honoring the Windrush generation are meticulously revived subsequent to being defaced, amidst the ongoing Windrush controversy.

Portraits celebrating the Windrush generation in Brixton, which were vandalized, have been restored following a global outpouring of support. The Windrush Untold Stories exhibition, located in Windrush Square, showcases 20 portraits and recollections of Caribbean immigrants who came to the UK in the postoperative era. It was launched during the Big Caribbean Lunch event for Windrush Day on June 22. However, on July 3, the portraits were slashed and covered in green paint. This act led to community groups involved in the exhibition receiving support from around the world. The restoration work was made possible by a loan because an online fundraiser on GoFundMe did not reach its £15,000 target, but only reached about £5,000. The exhibition, initially scheduled to end on July 10, has been extended for another two weeks and talks are underway about moving it to the Home Office.
