A road incident in Lismore, northern New South Wales, has injured more than 35 individuals, including those involved with an Australian Defence Force (ADF) vehicle. Emergency services responded to initial reports of 22 injured at the scene shortly after 5 PM, with numbers rising to 36 shortly before 6 PM. To address the situation, 19 ambulances were dispatched to Tregeagle Road, and patients have been treated at both Lismore and Tweed hospitals. The ADF had been in Lismore to assist the community in preparing for ex-tropical cyclone Alfred and subsequent flooding. NSW police confirmed that two ADF trucks collided approximately 9 km southwest of Lismore. NSW Ambulance paramedics are providing assistance on the scene, alongside Richmond Police District officers and specialist rescue units. Photographs from the Sydney Morning Herald show a troop transport vehicle on its side. Tregeagle Road has been closed, with authorities advising the public to avoid the area. NSW Premier Chris Minns expressed concern over the incident, emphasizing that emergency services are actively involved in the response and providing necessary support.
