A suspect involving a shooting that occurred at a Dallas high school, leaving four students injured, has been apprehended, according to statements from Dallas Independent school district officials. Three students were hit by gunfire, and another sustained a lower-body injury, as reported by the Dallas fire-rescue department. The incident occurred just after 1 p.m. at Wilmer-Hutchins High School, prompting a large police presence on campus.
At a press conference, School Superintendent Stephanie Elizalde remarked on the frequency of such incidents, stating that this situation has become too common and shouldn’t be expected as the norm. The school district confirmed the arrest of the suspect but withheld details regarding the individual’s identity and whether they were taken into custody.
Assistant Police Chief Christina Smith addressed the ongoing investigation, which was still underway at the time of the conference, without any concrete information on the motives or circumstances leading to the shooting. She emphasized the fluid nature of the investigation, indicating ongoing efforts to gather accurate information.
The ages of the three injured by gunfire were between 15 and 18, while the individual with the musculoskeletal damage was of an unknown age. Moreover, after the students were evacuated, they were safely reunited with their parents.
