Bardem and Einbinder Join Emmy Awards Celebrities in Urging a Truce for Gaza

Television’s leading stars used this year’s Emmy awards to express their opposition to Israel’s actions in Gaza, either through their fashion choices on the red carpet or powerful acceptance speeches.

Actress Hannah Einbinder, who won best supporting actress in a comedy series, wore a red Artists4Ceasefire pin, joined by White Lotus actors Aimee Lou Wall and Natasha Rothwell, Ruth Negga from Presumed Innocent, and Chris Perfetti from Abbott Elementary. This pin calls for the U.S. government to demand an immediate ceasefire and de-escalation in the conflict, urging the protection of lives.

Spanish actor Javier Bardem, nominated for his role in Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, wore a Palestinian keffiyeh on the red carpet, stating his refusal to work with anyone who supports the genocide in Gaza. Meanwhile, actor Megan Stalter carried a handbag with “Ceasefire!” written on it.

Einbinder, in her acceptance speech, notoriously shouted “Go birds, fuck Ice, and free Palestine,” highlighting her support for the cause close to her heart, where she has friends working as frontline workers and doctors in Gaza.

Einbinder was among the thousands of industry professionals, including Bardem, who signed the Film Workers for Palestine pledge, vowing not to collaborate with Israeli institutions directly involved in the conflict.

Through such platforms, the Emmy awards became a stage for these celebrities to not only celebrate their work but also to stand up for global issues, showcasing how fashion and speeches can echo powerful messages of support and advocacy.
