Birmingham police collision claims the life of a pedestrian | West Midlands

A tragic incident occurred in Acocks Green, Birmingham, when a man died following a collision involving a police car and a pedestrian. The incident took place near the junction of Yardley Road and Florence Road around 7 pm on Wednesday. According to the Birmingham police, the police vehicle was responding to a 999 call about a man carrying knives on Warwick Road at the time of the collision.

The 40-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, and his family is receiving support. The police are in contact with the Independent Office for Police Conduct. The two officers in the police vehicle were not injured.

Anyone who has information about the incident, including dashcam footage, is being asked to contact the police on 101, quoting log 4726 of 19 March. The police also mentioned that they responded to the initial call about the man with knives, but there was no visible disorder at the time.
