An 18-year-old teenager has been charged with terrorism offences after a police raid discovered violent extremist material on his electronic devices. The man, who was due to face court on Thursday, allegedly had a video and document linked to “proscribed terrorist organisations” on his devices. The raid, conducted by a joint terrorism taskforce in Brisbane’s north, also seized chemicals and books associated with nationalist and racist violent extremism. The maximum penalty for the offense is five years in jail. Authorities warn that extremist groups are targeting vulnerable and young people online for radicalization.
