Cassius Turvey Discharged from Hospital, Readmitted Hours Later and Dies of Head Trauma: Murder Trial in Western Australia

Indigenous teenager Cassius Turvey, 15, died ten days after being allegedly attacked with a metal pole in Perth’s eastern suburbs on October 13, 2022. He died a month after being admitted to Midland public hospital with head injuries, for which he was initially treated and examined, before being released and re-admitted hours later in a worse condition. Cassius’s doctors transferred him to Perth Children’s hospital, where he underwent a second CT scan to reveal increased bleeding and pressure inside his brain, and later died from complications of his head injury. Aleesha Louise Gilmore, 23, her boyfriend Jack Steven James Brearley, 23, and his acquaintances Brodie Lee Palmer, 29, and Mitchell Colin Forth, 26, are on trial for his murder. Prosecutors allege Brearley struck Cassius in the head with a metal pole twice while hunting for kids to avenge the smashing of his car windows, with the assistance of Forth, Palmer, and Gilmore. The trial is ongoing.
