An Indigenous teenager named Cassius Turvey died in hospital after being chased into bushland by two men armed with metal poles. The incident took place in Perth’s eastern suburbs on October 13, 2022. A 19-year-old witness testified in court that she saw the men chasing the teenagers and that Cassius later emerged from the bush with a bloody head. The witness also mentioned the smashed car windows as being a motive behind the incident, with the accused individuals involved in a series of escalating conflicts. The trial is ongoing.
