Russian strikes in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, resulted in the deaths of at least three people and left nine others injured, as announced by city officials on Thursday morning. Among the casualties is a child. The city’s military administration reported these operational figures. Powerful explosions were heard by journalists from Agence France-Presse in Kyiv, and Ukrainian officials had previously warned of a significant Russian attack. The explosions were visible in the night sky and left a smoke trail, with sightings of at least one missile being shot down. Kyiv’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, confirmed a major attack on the city and urged residents to remain in shelters. Emergency services were deployed to areas such as Darnytsky, Dniprovsky, and Shevchenkivsky, where reports began to emerge of damage to residential buildings. Diplomatic efforts to end the conflict have persisted, including recent meetings between the US President, Donald Trump, and his counterparts from Russia and Ukraine. However, these efforts have not yet yielded tangible outcomes, with ongoing complications in reaching a peace agreement.
