Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett has aligned herself with Canada and Mexico as they take a strong stance against Donald Trump, a position she characterizes as “really wild” given Trump’s role as the president of the United States. Crockett emphasized that these countries are at the forefront in challenging Trump’s actions, indicating they have no intention of being swayed by his administration.
Her comments came a day after both Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum defiantly responded to Trump’s threats to their nations’ sovereignty. Sheinbaum was particularly direct, stating that any attempt to invade Mexico following Trump’s designation of Mexican drug cartels as terrorist organizations would be met with resistance.
Trudeau also made headlines after Trump’s called a US hockey team, which subsequently lost a tournament to a Canadian team. Trudeau posted on social media, “You can’t take our country – and you can’t take our game.”
Crockett’s stance may stem from her constituents’ November election votes for Trump, despite his earlier felony conviction. Crockett pointed out that many knew of Trump’s questionable character when they elected him and criticized those who feign surprise at his actions.
Despite her strong words, many in the Democratic party remain skeptical about the ability of Congress to effectively resist Trump’s policies. This sentiment is reflected in a recent poll where many voters expressed their lack of confidence in the Democratic response.
