Detainment Following Females’ Demise on Vessel Crossing From Welsh Territory to Irish Land

A passenger ferry incident at Co Wexford, Ireland, has resulted in the death of a woman. An individual has been detained in connection with the woman’s death. The incident occurred during the 2 p.m. sailing from Fishguard, Wales, to Rosslare Europort. After being alerted, emergency services boarded the ship shortly after 5 p.m. The woman was pronounced dead and her body remains on the ferry. A man was arrested in relation to the investigation and is being held at a Garda station in the eastern region. Gardai have preserved the scene for technical and forensic examination. The state pathologist’s office and local coroner have been notified. A postmortem examination will be conducted to determine the course of the investigation. A senior investigating officer and a family liaison officer are handling the investigation and providing support to the deceased’s family. Stena Line confirmed the incident and stated that it is a police matter, directing further inquiries to Gardai. A sailing from Rosslare to Fishguard was canceled in light of the incident.
